Insight Executive Group are delighted to announce the appointment of Hozan Shoresh to the position of Associate Director. Hozan will be leading our Corporate Real Estate Services proposition.
Hozan brings with him a sizeable wealth of experience – at his previous employer he was one of the founding members of their Property, and FM division. There, he worked with corporate occupiers/end users, FM companies and real estate advisers. Hozan spent nearly seven years working on that team, overseeing 25% year on year growth, making them one of the leading divisions in the company.
During this time, Hozan also worked on his own growth, building a strong personal client base that remains with him today.
Welcome Hozan, can you tell us a bit about how you came to join Insight?
I’d known Nick White in a business capacity for a number of years and always liked his style of working – I felt that it fitted well with my own business principles.
The way he approached me spoke volumes about how Insight carries out their work. He kept it simple – stayed in touch and showed respect, honesty and integrity with all his communications.
I was coming to the end of my sabbatical at the time, so it was very important for me to make the right choice. This meant that I was very considered with my decision – Insight matched what I look for in a business.
Our Chairman, Gerry Kassab, is currently on a sabbatical. I recently interviewed him about the benefits of taking a break and what it can add to your career. Why did you choose to take a sabbatical and what effect has it had on you?
I strongly believe that taking a break at the right time in your career can do wonders for the quality and intensity of your work in the long run.
I spent time with my family, travelling to Dubai, Turkey and Portugal, as well as time alone to recharge. I’m a keen gardener so I worked on perfecting my garden – which now needs plenty of upkeep!
I also caught up with plenty of reading and saw my beloved Liverpool twice, as well as being treated to a few games at Stamford Bridge by my friends there. Overall, it was time to refresh and left me feeling motivated to take on a new challenge.
How did Insight tempt you back into work after all that fun?
First off, it was clear that all of the consultants were experts in their respective fields. They have a great client base in both public sector and private fields.
Insight also gave me the chance to move into a business management role, allowing me to progress and grow within the company.
Above all this though, it was clear that Insight is built upon the principles of honesty and trust – ethical beliefs that I have always tried to conduct my own work by. Obviously, businesses rely and prosper off profits and hard work, but without the foundations that Insight have shown, these things can only take you so far. To really reach the top, you have to show so much more – demonstrate that you will get the job done, but in a way that you and your clients can be proud of.
Insight are true to their word and understand that trust is hard to build but easily be lost.
Has working at Insight lived up to these first impressions?
Absolutely, the business feels more mature, especially in their approach to managing staff. Personally, I’m relishing the move into a business management role. It has been great putting forward ideas and having them taken on board – even seeing them developed as a team. Having a voice has always been a very important part of my work and this is something that Insight ensures for all its staff.
What are your aims for the coming months – both individually and for the company as a whole?
I believe that at Insight, we have everything we need to become one of the best senior executive recruiters out there. If we continue down our domain specialist route and position the company correctly, then progress will continue to be made. As long as we stick to quality over quantity, as well as our principles, then we will grow sustainably and effectively.
Personally, I realise there is a lot of work to be done in my market. It is a new market in some respects for Insight and so is a standing start. But we have a great team who are motivated, principled and treat people fairly – I am confident we can succeed.
I want to utilise my extensive network whilst remaining on top of key market trends. This will mean that we continue to place the right people in the right positions.
