Insight Executive Group are very pleased to announce the appointment of consultant, George Hutcherson, to our Facilities Management and Property division. George will join Paul Harker in the team managed by Rob Parker, bringing another two years’ of experience to the group.
I spoke to George about why he chose to join Insight and how he has found his first few weeks at the company.
Hi George, welcome to Insight! Tell us a bit about your background in recruiting.
I initially joined the Rec to Rec sector, but, unusually, not working in recruitment – instead working in a marketing role. After only a few months I was promoted into a recruitment position and quickly developed my skills.
I then moved agencies and was working in the Higher Education sector of the Facilities and Estates department. It was then I met Rob Parker, my manager here at Insight.
What attracted you to Insight?
When Rob later joined Insight, he spoke to me about how they work. It was obvious instantly that Insight had communicated their vision effectively to Rob. He was clear about what set them apart from other recruitment firms – being more than just a seat number, as well as, working with a trusted and warm network of candidates and clients.
For me this was the perfect opportunity to build upon what I had learnt from my first few years in recruitment. I would be surrounded by experts in their respective fields and would be working in a way that would allow me to develop alongside them.
How have your first few weeks measured up?
Since joining Insight the change in environment has been stark. There is much more of an adult approach here – you’re not constantly being checked up on and are allowed to work in your own way. It’s also a calmer, more methodical working environment – I’ve had breathing space to really think about the best way to approach each role.
Working within Rob’s network has been fantastic, but one of the biggest differences I have noticed is that everyone is open to sharing their candidates – it’s a real team effort. Everyone is dedicated to getting the best candidates for each role, regardless of whether it is their job or not. The team understand how important reputation is in the recruitment industry – the more we place high-quality candidates the more high-quality roles will come our way.
What’s next for you, George?
Insight have been great at laying out exactly what is expected of me to ensure I progress. Although it is down to me to put in the hard work, being surrounded by top recruiters has helped me massively – I’m relishing the chance to work my way up the company!

George has joined the team with a real desire to learn and improve. He’s never afraid to ask questions and has been great at taking information on board. He adds further depth and experience to our team, meaning we can continue our sustained growth. I look forward to helping George develop even further.
