“I wasn’t actively looking. I was happy in my current role, but the opportunity to work at Insight felt special.”

Insight have come a long way in our first 7 years as a business. After some ups and downs, we are now settled with two offices and clear plan for expansion – we want the right people to join the company and crucially, we want to be the right company for them too.

Often people make the move to a new job when they are unhappy, and we have definitely heard our fair share of recruitment horror stories. This contributes to why parts of the industry are spoken about in negative terms. This wasn’t the case with Adam.

About Adam

Liverpool born Adam began in recruitment after returning from travelling in 2004 – he needed a job in London to be close to his future wife. 18 years later, what initially was a job to fill a requirement has turned into happy and thriving career. It makes it all the more satisfying (and flattering) then that Adam jumped at the chance to make the move to Insight.

Having previously worked with IEG’s FM Director, Rob Parker, and witnessing first hand his skill and pedigree in the market, Adam felt it was too good an opportunity to pass up and decided to join Insight and switch sectors from Education to Facilities Management. He has relished this change and taken to the new market instantly.

It can be hard to leave behind a company where you have been treated well and you are enjoying your time, but Adam was very impressed with the working culture Insight embodies.

“The fact that in the space of one morning I had met all the directors whilst going through the interview process, showed not only Insight’s attention to detail, but that they really care about who is coming into the business – who you are not just what you’ve achieved. After seeing the carefully created culture here first-hand, I can see how that is something you wouldn’t want to jeopardise with the wrong hire.”

With the opening of a new office, we were very keen to ensure the same working culture we had built in the London office was replicated in Cheltenham, and Adam feels this has definitely been achieved – not only by the consultants, but everyone involved.

“I have a lot of respect for Operations Manager, Katie Yianni. She understood how difficult moving jobs can be and was incredibly patient with me, always taking a gentle approach. This really set the tone and since then everyone has been fantastic.

The one-to-one training with Sue Sharp is epic – I feel like I can talk about anything in or outside of work and she helps me work through any issues. Having that opportunity each week is something that really sets Insight apart.”

Adam has also benefitted from a more open way of working as well as working closely with Rob.

“Everyone feels like old friends already, the way we all share candidates and clients really creates such a kind environment and if I ever feel like I’m struggling, everyone is always happy to help. I’ve also learnt so much from sitting next to Rob each day – he’s so efficient in the way he works and very honest and direct, which I really respect.”

Adam has taken to FM life very quickly and is working within permanent management and operations roles for FM service providers across the UK. If you are a client looking to fill one of these roles or a candidate with the relevant experience, get in touch today!
