IEG Countdown to the 2021 Recruiter Awards

by | Sep 9, 2021 | Awards, News

The disruption caused by Covid affected businesses and people across all industries in unpredictable ways. Here at IEG, our team responded by keeping closer than ever to clients and candidates. Forecasting changes in demand for work, and supporting candidates with alternative interim solutions as client requirements swiftly changed.

As a result, our team were able to support candidates and clients to fulfil urgent assignments and placements. At pace, to support vital roles during the pandemic. And to enable individuals to support their families. The team worked above and beyond to support our networks, with some fantastic outcomes for so many people. This is why IEG’s founders Richard Collins and Nick White, decided that 2021 was the year that we would enter The Recruiter Awards. In order to highlight how proud they are of the people in this company. And we are delighted to have been shortlisted! Not for one, not two but for THREE awards:

Best Candidate Care + Best Public Sector Agency + Best Recruitment Agency

To celebrate the people that make IEG, including our team and our network, we will be sharing a selection of the case studies and testimonials that were provided by our clients and candidates for The Recruiter Awards 2021.
The first in our series is this heartwarming story that reflects how the personal attention and care of a consultant, Dawn Shindler, coupled with her lateral thinking. She helped to turn around an incredibly tough year for this candidate.

The Situation

The candidate within this case study is an operations manager from Buckinghamshire. His interim contract was completed in December 2019 – following on from this and the subsequent start of the pandemic. And with the threat of Covid further looming in 2020 and the First lockdown initiated in March, his future job prospects were less and less certain.

During this period of unemployment, despite his repeated and best efforts to secure employment – applying for over 16 roles, this operations manager found the experience was a knock to his confidence while, naturally, financial concerns were rising.

These anxieties were exacerbated by the pandemic causing a global shutdown and organisations moving into damage-control mode. Cutting costs rather than hiring new talent.

Our Senior Consultant for Healthcare, Dawn Shindler, was introduced to this candidate by Rob Parker, and here’s what our candidate had to say about his experience:

“IEG were the only recruitment agency who kept in touch with me regularly and offered constructive feedback and support. Regardless of the outcome of applications. I felt valued and knew exactly what to expect under Dawn’s guidance.”

Our Approach

Despite IEG having expanded 3-fold since conception. The foundation of fostering meaningful and long-term relationships with our candidates and clients still drives us today. A great example by Dawn. Personifying what we stand for as an organisation and why we have such a strong network of recommendations and referrals.

A Different Lens

Dawn understood our candidate’s predicament and offered alternative interim paths for him to get his career on track. The primary challenge influencing both his mindset and financial situation – securing employment.
Dawn identified a role at a well-known NHS Trust that matched the candidates’ skillset. Despite the location being outside of his initial search radius and consideration, the assignment offered the perfect first step back into the world of employment and at a good rate.

Outcome

Buoyed by the combination of Dawn’s tenacity and coaching, our candidate was able to relax and truly communicate his skills and experience within the interview. It was a huge success, and he was offered the role – the first in a year.

Since starting his role, his confidence and mental wellbeing have improved significantly, and the NHS Trust is thrilled with his performance.

“IEG were the only recruitment agency to keep in regular contact during the pandemic, with unrushed calls, encouraging advice and a genuine desire to help. Thanks to Dawn, I secured an interim role that I would otherwise have overlooked. This gave me a newfound confidence to apply for my ideal permanent role, which I was offered, accepted and have been happily in for six months now. Thank you, Dawn and the team at Insight!”
