Spotlight on IEG People – Meet Shanelle
What’s it’s like to work at Insight Executive Group?
In the first of our Spotlight on Our People Series, we’ve asked Shanelle Quamina, Compliance Guru (who is also always first on to the dance floor at any IEG event) to share what her experience of working at IEG over the past four years…
Over to you, Shanelle…
“Hi, I’m Shanelle and I joined IEG in the autumn of 2017 as a Compliance Assistant. I joined Insight for the opportunity to learn within the most supportive and encouraging team I have met. Particularly within recruitment! Under the guidance of the team, I was promoted to Compliance Officer in 2018.
My role at Insight, is to support the on-boarding and compliance processes. Very often at-pace when there is a demand to start interim assignments immediately.
‘Every day in this role is varied – which I love’
A typical day for me? There really isn’t a typical day, but in any given week, as well as helping candidates to start assignments on time, I may be providing evidence for essential audits. Managing projects to improve the efficiency of our service as our business grows, or helping candidates with iR35 queries.
The part of the job I enjoy the most is working with our recruitment consultants to get vital placements started on time. This has been particularly important during the pandemic as so many of our assignments are within the NHS and Healthcare. I really enjoy our team events too. As so much care is taken to ensure they are varied, fun and always quirky!
How We Work
During the pandemic, like so many people, I have spent more time working from home, but I am pleased to say I am now back in the office two days a week, which I love. Our office location is fantastic – floor to ceiling windows with views overlooking the Thames, between London Bridge and Tower Bridge. The office vibe is always fun, supportive, and collaborative without hierarchy between people or teams.
IEG are huge advocates for supporting wellbeing, and as such, I have always felt supported to balance work with the other parts of my life. Over the years, IEG have offered me flexibility in my working pattern which has been great for me as I’ve been able to start up a little side-venture. I love to bake and run my own small business from home baking made to order sweet treats.
Looking forward, I’d love to further develop my career at IEG, and support the business as it continues to grow with the same ethos, culture and sense of fun that Co-founders, Nick and Rich identified to start this business. It’s genuinely a great company to be part of.”
